The brain contains about 1 billion neurons and cells, each of which contacts others by forming 30-40 thousand connections (synapses). If we take 1 cb. cm. of the brain, it would contain about 100 thousand neurons, a billion synapses.
On average, 60,000 thoughts circulate in a person’s head per day, of which 95% are the same as yesterday, 80% are negative and only 5% are conscious thoughts. Neurons and cells participate not only in maintaining vital brain functions, coordinating movements, but also in thought processes.
Those 95% of subconscious thoughts are like a part of an iceberg, hidden under water. We do not record them. However, the remaining 5% depends on us. So, whether we will allocate them to creating new plans or blaming the past and others for unsuccessful events, we control ourselves.
Sometimes it is difficult to remember numbers and imagine the thought processes taking place in our heads. However, replacing this with a household example can make it easier.
Imagine that your head is a pot in which the brain is like water. And thoughts are water molecules that perform the necessary functions. Most of our brain processes are subconscious and occur as if by themselves - we do not think about how to take a step, how to breathe, blink, etc. However, if we remember what we thought, it was a conscious thought and we can control it.
Often, those conscious thoughts cause emotions and actions that manifest as a reaction to them and turn the circle of thoughts. Conscious thoughts are like the heat of a stove that we can control. At the moment when we increase the heat and let all the thoughts, accusations, excuses related to past events, other people, fears about the future into our head, our pot starts to boil. We no longer understand what is happening, why we feel bad, we are dissatisfied with our life, we have no energy. Because it, like water, evaporates.
Cooking, as a process, is useful for a short time - while food is being prepared or another action is being performed. However, if you leave a boiling pot on the fire for a long time, the water will evaporate, and if you continue to heat it, the pot will start to burn. So is our brain - it mobilizes to carry out certain projects, cortisol is released to mobilize us to act. However, if we constantly tire it with a process without results, it starts to running out. Our energy levels drop, we feel tired, unmotivated, until burnout sets in. And when that happens, the pot doesn't necessarily get cleaned by simply pouring cool water over it, sometimes much stronger chemicals are needed.
So when thinking about this parallel, remember that you will never see your own image in boiling water. That requires a calm, still surface. So stop torturing yourself with meaningless thoughts. Just as you create them, you can also calm them. Turn down the heat and look. What do you see now?
Hypnotherapy allows you to slow down the frequency of your brain waves, so during it your conscious thoughts calm down and you can see more clearly what is under the water. Allow yourself to calm down. Look inside yourself and find the beauty in it.
